Between the cost of the console itself, games and accessories you can expect to invest thousands over the course of a lifetime. There are ways that can lower the amount you spend which this article will detail.

Buying used

Getting second hand or used games is a great way to save money. Many gamers sell their games to retail stores who in turn sell the games back to the public at a discount. These kinds of businesses are located all over the place particularly at malls throughout the country. They specialize in gaming and know what other gamers are looking for. Savvy gamers can not only save money by buying from these places but they could also sell their own games there.

Trading older games

Instead of buying games when you want to try something new, why not trade an old game for something else instead? Gamers will always have games that they like more than others. The least liked games could be traded amongst friends for other titles. This way no money is spent but you will still get to experience a game that may be new to you.

Selling your games

It’s easy to sell videogames. Whether it be online, to a store or to acquaintances. The demand for game titles is bigger than ever and a gamer could really rack up in this market. As long as the games work and are clean there will always be someone willing to pay for it. The games should include the manuals and any original cover art that it came with when you are trying to sell them.

Once you begin gaming it is your responsibility to maintain your games and your game system. Since most games are compact disc this task isn’t extremely difficult. However there are ways to ensure they last for years to come.

Game and console maintenance

Just as the case with any electronic device, game consoles need special attention. If the system isn’t taken care of you may need to spend hundred of dollars to get them repaired. Worse case scenario you’ll have to replace it completely. For this reason you should be careful not to spill any liquids on your console. It is suggested that drinks and other liquids be kept away in the first place. Each console is known to have common problems once they are released. It’s just something that manufactures can’t avoid. Typical problems with gaming consoles include over heating from extended use, broken parts and lost signals. Many of these problems can be avoided simply by going the extra mile to protect the system. If your gaming console runs on compact disk based games, you can take care of your games in several ways. One way is to make sure each game is placed back into its jewel case when not being played. This is to limit the amount of scratches on the disk that will either cause the game to skip, freeze or not run at all. If your games do become scratched there isn’t too much that can be done to fix it. A new replacement will probably be in order at that point. However videogame disc cleaners can be used. The only problem with them is they can’t remove the scratches at all. Most of them only clean the disk of debris, which may help in some cases. These kits are inexpensive but a gamer could duplicate the cleaner process by simply wiping down their games occasional with a slightly damp rag. As long as game consoles and games are stored in a cool place that’s dry you probably won’t have any problems at all.

When Nintendo released the NES system in 1985 they revolutionized gaming. To this day Ninteno’s Super Mario Brothers is the second biggest selling video game of all time. Even with their most recent release of the Wii in late 2006 they continue to make strides. Nintendo creates home gaming consoles as well as handheld ones. The Wii MotionPlus technology is something they experimented with in the past with its power pad. The pad was one you placed on the floor and ran in place on. The censors used would control the game using your body movements. Since 1985 Nintendo has created many different consoles. Here are a couple of the Nintendo consoles tat have been released home and handheld.;

Game Boy/Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance/Nintendo/Nintendo DS/Nintendo 64/Wii/GameCube

Nintendo consoles are loved the world over for several reasons. One being brand popularity. Since Nintendo was able to get in on the ground floor of video gaming consoles they have been in widespread use longer than their competitors consoles. The familiarity and Nintendo reputation for gaming can’t be matched. For the gamer over thirty growing up with Nintendo was a way of life. It hasn’t been that long since Nintendo’s dominated the video game market with their products. To this day many of the games that Nintendo originated are made and re-made for other game consoles. In addition, they are still being developed with new titles using the same past Nintendo games. Nintendo will continue to make game consoles and handhelds the world loves.

Back in the day when you had the Atari system as the primary video gaming system on the market things were different. Well actually things were the same but we are finally beginning to see what the future holds in gaming. Things were the same because just as then and now you have to actually buy new games for your system. Whether you have the Wii, Xbox or Plyastation, you are required to have games. Although new advances are changing the gaming process, we still aren’t quite to the point where buying games is totally obsolete.

The new wave in gaming is the “on demand” method where games are downloaded to your system when you want to play them. With the on demand method you are simply downloading games from a master server that the console interacts with. This can be done through a subscription based model as in pay a fee per month in order to download x amount of games. Other options are the pay per game download or the ultimate unlimited games for a one time fee. We are getting close and some systems have a form of this already taking shape. Soon all game systems will function in this way and buying actual physical copies of games will no longer be needed. Just as with music, the need to buy compact disc isn’t really there anymore as MP3 related technologies began to hit the market. Imagine a system you buy or download that has its own version of itunes but solely for videogames. Just as with itunes, there is no system to buy as long as you have a computer. Once we reach the point where all video games from the various platforms are gathered and cataloged, we will be a step closer. Games could be accessed 24/7 via the computer or one special console for the TV that will allow you to download and play any game at any time.

Another direction videogames are heading in is the pre packed game consoles with and without on demand features. Imagine a console that comes installed with thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions of games. Just as with a computer with internal memory, the console could have a certain amount of gigabytes that stores the games. Simply by plugging the console to a TV will allow you to bring up the games and play them with no external game copies needed. These games could either be popular titles from various game manufactures or brand new games that the game console maker develops. Some of the things written about in this article are based in part on the direction videogame technology is headed. Even if something appears to read as impossible or far fetched, it really isn’t. It is in fact the future of video gaming.

By now everyone the world over has heard of the Playstation, Xbox and the Nintendo, yet very little is mentioned about older consoles anymore. You might be surprised to find out that other older consoles really give their newer mainstream predecessors a run for their money. There are plenty of alternatives to the top video game consoles that are being sold today. Each one is beneficial and offers it own unique features that separates it from the others. Die hard game enthusiast usually don’t find them as advanced as say the Wii but as gamers they still can enjoy them. Even the older consoles that lost its popularity or the manufacturer stopped updating is worth checking out. In fact, I would suggest a new gamer save themselves the money by purchasing a refurbished Dreamcast for example or XaviXPORT. Just think about how many people bought these consoles, games and accessories only to throw them aside later. There should be plenty of games and related products for the console available for dirt cheap. As stated earlier, they may not be up to today’s standards graphics wise but it’s not like they look like an Atari from the seventies. The NEO-GEO released in 1994 did fairly well when introduced and is a good alternative to newer consoles. Over the course of the years they released many games that our society is flooded with. Places like garage sales, eBay and flea markets are good places to find old games and consoles. For people who don’t want to spend fifty dollars on games why not give an older console a try?

Many people that are affiliated slightly with gaming and or physics will have concrete knowledge of what ragdoll physics is. There are many different games and entities that have been brought about by the new concept that we now know today as ragdoll physics. These ragdoll tactics were new improvements made in order to simulate a computer game death and to make it more realistic. After using static death measures for a long time, many computer scientists and software engineers made the switch to ragdoll tactics. With the inclusion of these new tactics, many computer games and especially fighting and killings were taken to the next level.

Ragdoll physics had been as a pioneer of the early gaming era which would eventually led to games such as Grand Theft Auto and other games that many fans love and enjoy. The company that makes Grand Theft Auto is Rockstar and they have undoubtedly mastered the basics and the ins and outs of ragdoll physics. Some of the simulation death tactics in those games have been seen to be the latest and the newest and they seem impeccable to those before them. This is the main reason why the company is one of the richest and most profitable in the video game industry. These ragdoll physics tactics have come to the benefit of many different types of games not only killing and death games like Grand Theft Auto and the famous and popular Mortal Kombat series. These have also aided sports games in many ways.

Sport giant Electronic Arts will attest to the fact that ragdoll physics has helped in the way in which they provide and make violent sports games. When one is playing their newest baseball installment from EA they can see that when the catcher collides with an incoming base runner the simulation looks more realistic than ever. This is also the case in a football game. When a violent collision or a brain crushing tackle has been applied to a person the effect is so real and looks much better than it did years before. In the older days of software engineering and when ragdoll physics was in its pioneer stages, this could not have been done. Back in 2000 on the Nintendo video game system a football tackle would just be a player touching another and the culprit falls to the floor. Ten years later, the art of a tackle has been perfect through the new Play station systems and the XBOX players. With these systems and the current technology, a tackle is so much more in depth. The user can actually see the player get tackled and wrestled to the floor while their hands move and sweat drips of their face and occasional blood accompanies this. Wrestling fans will usually see the same result as the wrestling world has been severely changed for the better as a result of the improvement in ragdoll physics. There are many different ways to see how ragdoll physics has improved the way in which people game everywhere around the world.

Check out some very cool ragdoll games here.

Many people that love PC gaming have seen an increase in the quality of games that have been brought out. Most times in the past, PC games were seen as a last resort and an alternative to the better games that were broadcast on the better systems such as the PlayStation and the XBOX console series. However, with the introduction of new and different upgrades to computers such as stronger and better operating systems, computer gaming has become a viable source of entertainment. The best games today in the PC world now sport high resolution graphics and top notch audio. The best games of 2010 that are compatible with the PC are:

1. FIFA World Cup Soccer 2010: South Africa – This is the best game of the year as many people anxiously waited for the World Cup version of the annual FIFA release, which only happens every four years. In this game, one can play with a popular team such as England and play with popular players such as Wayne Rooney and John Terry. Additionally, each team that qualified for the 2010 World Cup is available so teams that are fans of unheralded teams such as Ghana and Slovenia would be able to play as their favorite teams with accurate rosters.

2. Max Payne 3 – Many Max Payne fans have scrambled to get this game and it is known why. Once a hit with the classic XBOX consoles, the Max Payne series have made it to the PC in full force. It provides new action and chapters as well as top notch graphics yet to be seen from a Max Payne game.

3. Splinter Cell Conviction – This new version of Splinter Cell features a new environment and a different story completely as the user has to help Sam get to uncharted heights. The new environment and intriguing storyline have drawn many to this game.

4. Star Craft II – Classic Star craft users would love this game. This game features a different environment and a change of pace but it is a continuation of the Star Craft series of old. It would be of no shock to anyone if it a poll of how many people that bought it owned the previous game was quite a large number.

5. Dark Void – In this new sci-fi game, many people are able o see different levels and a story that is just beginning. Unlike Star Craft, the plot here is fresh and this may attract many different people.

These games are about as great as it gets for a person that still does their gaming on a computer. While other systems have improved with the graphics, audio, and game play, the PC has made major strides to improve and get to that level or at least close the gap that stands in between. With the correct computer, and the latest hard drive, these types of games could provide a gamer with loads of fun. There are a lot of PC games that are worthy of being played and these are the highest ranked in the year 2010.
